Health minister Dr Zweli Mkhize has announced that South Africa now has 70,038 confirmed cases of coronavirus.
This is up by 4,302 cases from the 65,736 infections on Saturday when the country recorded 3,809 new cases.
The minister announced 57 new deaths, taking the total up to 1,480, while recoveries increased to 38,531, which translates to a recovery rate of 55%.
A total of 1.12 million tests have been conducted to date, of which 34,071 tests have been conducted over the past 24-hour period.
