Racism's TRUE definition: The UNHEALTHY OBSESSION with finding difference in race.
STOP with the divide!
so we get monday off?
How did a random Canadian (me) know about Juneteenth before the American President?
When there are no words, Amber makes it easy to explain. She is a treasure.
Where did you get that fabulous shirt?
Y'know, if Amber had her own show, I'd watch that.
If Lincoln never thought of writing the Emancipation Proclamation, Juneteenth would probably be decades later. EP is the most significant event to end slavery, most like Independence Day federal holiday. The 13th Amendment was more impactful than Juneteenth, which is more of Texas holiday. These two other events would be more significant to celebrate and remind everyone as a federal holiday. Either way, I'm all for another holiday
OMG I love Amber!
Hard question "how to address systemic racism" ah DON'T BE RACIST is a good place to start .
Amber is an absolute light in this world
Love Amber! ššš
I came from some "3rd world" country, with over thousands of indigenous etnich groups… we do have some horizontal racism case here and there, but it doesn't even reach 1% of cases that occur daily in USA ššš
Oh my god. All sass, all class, what a clever woman.
You are wearing āMintyā ššš„³š„³ No one gets this, I bet, except you my little
Firecracker
It's not that the South held on to their slaves for two more years. The war didn't end until April 1865. There were not enough US Army troops available to go to every part of the Confederacy and enforce the 13th Amendment which outlawed slavery.
Amber's outfit…I'm *DYING*! She's a picture!!
Grew up in NY – school was very mixed. Always had black friends – nope, never heard of it until recently. This is still my legit question.
āNo costume please āš¤£š¤£š¤£ Oh Amber, I love you

Amber I love you. That's all.
I wish I could like this video twice.
she needs her own show
The one really gentle thing that could be celebrated on Juneteenth would be to look at the things that freed people said in the slave narratives and those recordings that were made in the 1930's were the most sweet things about freedom. Obviously not being beaten and the end of the forced separation of families through slave sales is on the list, but I have been touched by the other things that get mentioned. Things I remember reading. A couple of hours a day when works over when a person can do what ever they want……..going to whatever church they want……..learning to read or sew or draw …….being able to socialize with whomever they want…..listening to the Bible being read…….singing in a choir…..having a space that is their very own space….and so many other simple things. These kind of simple things are what make life rich. A holiday that included thinking of the things that are of real value would actually make us all richer and freer.
Long live Amber! I love you. I love your videos!!Also…that blouse is beautiful! I want one!
Letās also remember that the civil war was not about freeing the slaves. Confederate slaves were freed to remove resources from the confederate army and states. Union slave states got to keep their slaves. Iām not saying beliefs about emancipation wasnāt an integral part of the war, just that it wasnāt the reason for the civil war. To say so we fought the civil war to free slaves is white washing history (again).
Hmm. We did just buy a used car. The shaky economy drove down the prices. Happy Juneteenth everybody!
I love Seth for always letting her shine
I hv a question to which maybe some African American folks could respond. If someone was to learn that there was a slave holder in their family tree, what would you want that person to do?
No one talks about this. Some folks privately try to find ancestors and make amends as best they can. But they keep it quiet to avoid public shame.
Do you think thatās appropriate? Or should they make it public to put a face to it? To publicly own up to the horrible thing done by their ancestor(s)?
I have been wondering this for some time.
I was in New Zealand during a time when they were holding some truth and reconciliation events throughout the nation and white people whose ancestors had done awful things stood up to publicly admit it, take responsibility and apologize to the ancestors of the Maori. It was really powerful. It was as though these people stood in the gap. The tribal elders of the Maori communities (they held it in various towns and cities with the different ancestors from that area) were amazing in the way they didnāt excuse, but still somehow forgave. Itās done so much for the country. Anyhow, I wonder about that a lot.
Thoughts?
PS – I donāt think this should be all thatās done. I believe in reparations and would advocate that the ancestors of slave owners would also make meaningful amends as best as possible. Thereās no way to make up for owning and subjugating another human life, but are there other things youād want to see from the personal side (obviously, defunding police, legislation, teaching the ugly & horrific components of our history in school [they do this in Germany])?
Iām sorry for the way Iām stumbling through these questions. I donāt know the best way to ask. But I feel it needs to be asked even if I donāt know how.
"You had better get that song Sung, Baby!"

āNo costumes, please!ā š¤£
I absolutely love Amber!! She is so bright and adorable. Thank you Amber.
I'm shocked that anyone doesn't know about Juneteenth. Maybe because I grew up in East Texas, I've always known about it???
Yes she is!
She has preschool teacher energy
In Europe we have a problem with people mostly from eastern Europe, Asia and Africa being trafficked and forced in to prostitution and manual labor. Do you have the same problem in the US?
'No costumes please" LOOL
1:15 not only do they not face charges but they were compensated for it. I think England just finished paying them back
"No costumes please…!" That goes for YOU TOO, Mr. Governor of Virginia or Prime Minister of Canada…!!!
I never heard of Juneteenth. Don't judge me. Hollywood failed to mention this.
Its most unfortunate to live in a country that will not elect
a woman with the political competency of, or the looks of a Golda Meir or
Indira Gandhi to serve us in public office, as if thatās not bad enough, we
will not even allow anyone that looks remotely like them to read the news to us
on television either. Weāll just have to continue to suffer the consequences of
the blond dyed empty heads engaging in the practice of appearance journalismā¦
I love Amber Ruffin! Sheās the reason Iām subscribing to you Seth Meyers. Her, not you Seth Meyers! (Ok, bc you too, Seth)
