This poem is entitled xam |goa-di, (mind my spelling, LOL you know my situation, I’m still learning to spell in Khoekhoegowab:
This is a poem that was whispered to me by my Ancestors. It is a calling to the African Child to rise up in unity, to stand up for ourselves and each other as we stand against all forms of oppression and injustice. It is a reminder that we are powerful, strong, resilient, beautiful, and that we matter, just as Steve Biko taught us through Black Consciousness Theory.
I had the honour of performing this poem at the first-ever Juneteenth celebration in Cambodia.
