Campaigners hit out at council as they bid to save black history mural

Members of Reading’s Black Community have criticised the town’s Labour-run council over its handling of the black history mural, as campaigners launched a bid to “save” the 36m-long artwork

Dozens of people attended a symbolic ceremony at the mural on the first day of Britain’s Black History Month on Thursday (October 1).

The group has applied to Historic England to have the mural listed, and if successful it would mean it would be protected on a national level.
