Charity founded by Scot works to feed starving communities in Africa amid crisis

A Scots charity hero is helping feed starving African communities hit by extreme poverty due to the pandemic.

Educate the Kids founder Maureen McIntyre, from Livingston, feared the worst for families living near the schools she has built in Mombasa, Kenya, when Covid-19 hit.

It forced many in the area out of vital jobs and sent food prices rocketing.

But in the past 10 weeks, the 80-year-old’s team of dedicated volunteers have distributed about £50,000 in food aid to families, thanks to donations from kindhearted supporters in Scotland.
