Fundraiser to replace the sign marking historic Black community’s entrance raised over $3,000 in first two hours.
Reports of racially-motivated vandalism in the historic Little Africa community emerged Monday afternoon.
Members of the community posted photos on Facebook of the welcome sign at the community’s entrance, several road signs, a guard rail, and a bridge on Wilkie Bridge Road with swastikas and racial slurs spray-painted on them. Many of the posts’ comments expressed hurt and anger that someone had targeted the community this way.
