Ay Ay: Diasporan Indigenous AfRaKan Heritage in the Caribbean
A presentation delivered at the 39th Annual Conference of the Caribbean Studies Association (CSA) in Merida Yucatan Mexico on Tuesday, May 27.2014. Dr. Davis Kahina is the director of the Virgin Islands and Caribbean Cultural Center nestled within the College of Liberal Arts and Social Sciences at the University of the Virgin Islands. Dr. Davis Kahina’s presentation focused on partnerships and collaborations with SUCCEED, Sixth Region Diaspora Caucus (SRDC), Pan African Diaspora Union (PADU), National Park Service (NPS-STX), Government of the VI, Caribbean NGOs, Opia Taino International, Per Ankh M Smai Tawi and many others committed to the restoration, integrity, reclamation and respect to Diasporan Indigenous AfRaKan Heritages of the Caribbean and beyond. This presentation features a video clip of world- renowned historian, filmmaker and scholar Dr. Henry Louis Gates, Jr. and his endorsement of the UVI VICCC!!!! Thank you Dr. Gates!
This year’s CSA conference is being held from Monday, May 26.2014 through Friday, May 30, 2014.
