On behalf of the Black Student Union at California State University, Long Beach, we would like to share this video of our 38th Annual Black Consciousness Conference overall Panel Discussion on “The Power Of Culture” featuring: Dr. Boyce Watkins, Tariq Nasheed, Funmilola Fagbamila, Dr. Andrea Moore, and Sista Re’nee (Owner of Shades of Afrika in Long Beach). We felt this discussion was necessary and important, so that Black students on campus and the larger black community could have a thorough understanding of what culture is and how it connects and relates to our every day lives. The knowledge within this video is profound! DISCLAIMER: Our video recording cuts out at some points during the discussion, so some portions of the responses of the panelists are cut out, as well as the last 10 minutes of the Question and Answer period unfortunately. This was not intentional, just was an error of our recording on the day of. However Dr. Boyce Watkins did live stream the event as it happened, so it is online in full. Please visit his Youtube Page for that version. Nonetheless, thank you to all of the panelists, attendees, and students for making this conference the success that it was. Special thanks to BSU President Justin Bradley, and BSU Vice President Kiki Metellus for co-moderating this important discussion. BLACK LOVE WINS!

Use a good mic!!!!!!! Invest in yourself!!!!!!!!!!!!
My childhood friend got her degree in finance.
That damn mic is too dang loud. i didn't understand nothing that lady said next to Tarqi Nasheed.
Why didn't y'all do sound check before this presentation. Blacks always got extra things going.
A man and woman give their body when they don't want to in all aspects. To protect, provide, to nurture, to entertain, and of course to satisfy. You stop or withhold any one of these on a consistent base they will seek it from someone else. Black feminist/womanist just want to control sex. Green dress is probably an agent.
it's the black people show the black black people show it's the black people show
