Hi Neighbor,

It was a conversation I knew we should have. After all, America was finally waking up to racial injustice. Or finally reacting to it. But was this the right time, a time when so many more seemingly important things had to be fixed?

The conversation was with editors of Advance publications around the country. The discussion: Should “b” be capitalized when we write about a Black person?

My kneejerk reaction then: No.

Seemed to me, when the national conversation is about redirecting…
