Gainesville law enforcement expect quiet Inauguration Day

All signs so far indicate a peaceful Inauguration Day in Alachua County next week, law enforcement officials say, though officers are on standby in case things take a turn.

Since the deadly riot at the U.S. Capitol last week, the FBI has warned of plans for armed protests at all 50 of the country’s state capitals. To prepare for unrest in the run-up to President-elect Joe Biden’s inauguration, roughly 20,000 National Guard troops have been deployed to Washington, D.C.
