In city’s across Canada, Canadians are making their voices heard in a powerful display of unity against police brutality and systemic racism. From Halifax to Toronto, and in Ottawa, thousands filled the streets in solidarity with the George Floyd protests in the United States and around the world.

Canadian Prime Minister Justin Trudeau joined the protest in Ottawa and took a knee with the gathered protesters. Abigail Bimman takes us inside those protests.

Thousands took to the streets in Toronto on Friday and as Eric Sorensen explains, they’re calling for change in this country, too.

The police shooting of a 26-year-old Indigenous woman in Edmundston, N.B. has raised all kinds of questions. Chantel Moore’s family, Indigenous leaders and Canada’s Indigenous Services Minister want to know why the officer who made a wellness check on her, shot her and killed her. Silass Brown has more on that story.

U.S. President Trump on Friday hailed what he called “a great day” for George Floyd and equality. But that’s not how millions of other people see it. Trump has called on authorities to “dominate the streets.” As Jackson Proskow reports, there are growing concerns police officers are responding too harshly to peaceful protesters.

Canada added 290,000 new jobs in May, which makes it the best month in history. But that comes after the worst two months ever and millions of people are still out of work. Mike Armstrong reports.

In April, charges were laid against three police officers in Ottawa in an alleged tow truck kick back scheme. In this Global News investigation, insiders say the problem is much more widespread. Mike Le Couteur reports.
