Many years ago, I wrote a story as a young reporter about an annual fund the newspaper I worked for at the time had created to give to those in need for the holidays.
I remember getting emotional as I learned about the hundreds of families who were able to eat for months with the money that fund raised and the thousands of children who had received new coats and shoes and toys for the holidays year after year.
