On June 19, 1865, enslaved men and women in Texas finally learned that they were free — more than two years after President Abraham Lincoln signed the Emancipation Proclamation, which freed all slaves in rebelling states. Every June 19th since, African Americans across the nation have held celebrations commemorating the end of slavery in the United States. VOA’s Jesusemen Oni has more.

ABSOLUTELY. Everyone Has 4th OF July All WRONG!!! Juneteenth Is The Real End Of. SLAVERY❤❤❤❤
dam theses devils stripped our history like restarting a computer 💻 and reloading it with complete bull 💩 it’s a fukn shame it’s 2019 and i’m still just know realizing how much we don’t know about ourselves…The Most High God wasn’t playing when he put us under our enemies as a400 year punishment 🤦🏾♂️
I think one of the most important factors of Juneteenth Celebration is to educate everyone who have a passion to learn history. We know that during slavery many families were torn apart and sold on the market by the slave owners. This is one of the most important things Black families need to focus on is Family. What were the wife like during these times. What kind of men were the forward thinking Black Women seeking. What values and morals were instilled into kids. How important was education. Money management i mean why worry about reparations( hypothetically speaking) which i feel everyone( all racial catagories) will benefit from reparations by way of gov't programs. For example low interest rates( take advantage of it while it's down) itemized deductions( not with Trump) better dental coverage for working families for example tax write offs up to a certain amount of work done.
Didn't free anyone. The 14th made everyone slaves of the corporation called UNITED STATES. Citizens have NO RIGHT to question the public debt.
I'm still a slave! Someone save me and all other working slaves in USA! We'd all be kangz if they'd stop stealing for tax!
So I asked a few people at my job what today was and none of them knew. To top it off a West Indian woman said to me after I told her what this day was that it doesn’t apply to her. So I replied that’s a damn shame but if they ever give checks for reparations guess who gonna try and be on line waiting.
NAPPY JUNE'TEENTH!!!🇺🇸
White fragility in 3, 2, 1…
Reflect on their own families sold them for guns and alcohol. I'm not paying shit. I'll leave the country before I pay for something 150 years ago.
Lol and they still can't get it together. How about the 600,000 who died for this lie
American descendants of slavery are coming for the debt owed. I want you racist that hop on here to comment to know that. #ADOS #Tangibles2020 #ReparationsNow #B1 #Cutthecheck #NoBlackAgendaNoVote
