On June 19, 2020 at 6:00 pm Eastern Daylight Time, we sing, play or speak the words and music of the Black National Anthem: “Lift Every Voice and Sing,” written by James Weldon Johnson (1871-1938) and set to music by his brother John Rosamond Johnson (1873-1954) in 1899.

We do this to join in solidarity with Black people across the nation in the struggle for a just and equitable world.
