Madison Superintendent hire Carlton Jenkins tells Black leaders he's 'ready to go to work' | Local Education

Gloria Ladson-Billings, a UW-Madison education researcher who was on Jenkins’ dissertation committee when he earned a Ph.D. from the university in 2009, said while the the district hasn’t grown much since Jenkins started his administrative career in Madison’s Memorial High School, the demographics have become more diverse.

She said the changing demographics in the majority-minority district mean there needs to be a recognition of the changing needs of students.
