White House Press Secretary Kayleigh McEnany said Friday the Supreme Court ruling on DACA Thursday showed that President Donald Trump was “essentially right” on the law.

This despite the fact that the White House and President Trump have denounced the high court’s ruling that the administration improperly ended the Deferred Action for Childhood Arrivals program in 2017.

Speaking at the White House briefing, McEnany said the court’s ruling stated that “President Trump was right on the law here.”

She said as for the way forward, the president will continue his efforts to end legal protections for hundreds of thousands of immigrants brought to the United States as children. But she said he wants “to find a compassionate way to do this.”

The press secretary also defended Trump’s decision to hold an indoor rally with thousands of participants in Oklahoma Saturday, despite increases of virus cases in the state.

McEnany said the Trump campaign is taking appropriate measures to prevent virus spread, from providing hand sanitizer to doing temperature checks.

She said she will not be wearing a mask at the event, calling it “a personal choice” and noting that she is regularly tested for COVID-19.

McEnany also pushed back against questions about when Donald Trump learned of Juneteenth, insisting “the president has routinely commemorated” the date.

Trump told the Wall Street Journal in an interview Wednesday that “nobody had ever heard of” Juneteenth and he is responsible for putting it on the nation’s radar.

Finally, McEnany said the president has “no plans” to end the EU travel restrictions that were put in place amid the global coronavirus pandemic. But she said he “monitors the data constantly.”
