Kenya Ports Authority (KPA) has contracted Turkish shipbuilder Med Marine to construct a 42-m long tug to provide coastal towage, salvage services and harbour support.
This azimuth stern drive (ASD) tug will have a bollard pull of around 120 tonnes, making it the most powerful in the region.
Med Marine will build this tug to a brand-new RAstar 4200 architecture and adapt it to a MED A42120 design. It will have a moulded beam of 16 m and draught of 7.2 m when completed in Q4 2021.
