Springfield police reform proposal includes ban on chokeholds, limited 'no knock' warrants

Following protests that put a light on racial inequity and police brutality, Springfield city council will consider a package of police reforms Tuesday evening.

The long-awaited ordinance, offered by Ward 3 Ald. Doris Turner, comes following “a very deliberative process” of engaging members of the community, including groups that have been disproportionately impacted by policing.
