AZANIA….I'm crying seeing the youth of today being scared than the Old for the Future indeed they succeed in segregation now we say I'M ZULU , I'm Xhosa n we forgot the main enemy… REST IN PEACE MAY YOUR SPIRIT BE CARRIED IN ME….REST EASY BROTHER YOU'LL ALWAYS BE remembered
Another slightly longer version of this interview, that includes what the narrator says is Biko's definition of Black Consciousness can be found here: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=K5tMA3bkXmA&list=WL&index=6 Not sure why this version doesn't include it, but the missing part also includes Biko's critique of the term "minority'" as he make a case for ""egalitarian" society in which all are equal under the law. This is quite notable since, at least in this excerpt, he does not make the case for "majority" rule in his own country where indigenous people–the Bantu, Zulu, Xhosa, and others–have finally come to take ownership of this latter claim in today's South Africa. .
Those bastards. Cowardly bastards. He was right. He was able to brilliantly make the moral case, proving he was right. So they killed him. Man, I hate racists! And I have such immense respect for Steven Biko, and all who sacrificed their lives to oppose racial tyranny.
I must read his book , I WRITE WHAT I LIKE… It's sad that I'm 25 year old and I see how many bright leaders we have lost in this country and gives me goosebumps that this interview was done the year he was gonna be killed…
Disclaimer: 1st time hearing Steve Bantu Biko speak, and pleasantly surprised and inspired at the Manner in which Steve Bantu Biko was able to articulate his thoughts clearly, precisely, and be rooted firm in his beliefs and principles. Compared to the Politicians of today, who can talk for 10mins and say ZERO nothing…just big bombastic words, unprincipled, selfish own personal interests at heart.
Steve Bantu Biko -top Memorable Quotes by the Great Honourable Steve Bantu Biko;
1. "A community is easily divided when their perception of the same thing is different" 2. " Change the way people think, and things will never be the same" 3. "I am against the fact that a settler minority should impose a system of beliefs on an entire indegioneos people".
4. " Black Child your on Your Own." 5. "This is a white man's integration, an integration based on exploitative values" 6. "In all fields of black consciousness it seeks to talk to the black man in a language that is his own" 7. "If you want to say something radical, you should dress conservative" 8. "If one is free at heart , no man made chains can bind one to servitude" 9. " Most potent weapon in the hands of the oppressor is the minds of the oprressed"
OBservations & Lesson's Learnt
Steve bantu Biko was A hero & a Principled Leader way before his time fully immersed in the liberation of the Black People. His Command of the Queen's Language and Highly Insightful input and understanding of the dynamics Socia-economic, political, racial circumstances at the time was Top Tier, and of high regard.
History Will repeat itself.
If Nothing Changes, Nothing Changes.
From The 9 Quotes alone, the knowledge depth, and insight is alarming and startling that such history is not re-iterated and taught in schools? I remember at some stage the Department of education wanted and did away with the Subject HISTORY.
In the words of MArcus Garvey " A people without knowledge of past history, origin, and culture is like a tree with no roots."
The Information and history one is taught in school is that the biggest travesty is Holocaust in world war 11 (1939 – 1945), to the Jews of the world committed by Adolf Hitler and Nazis, who believed in Aryian Race being Superior – Blue eyed & Blone etc.
Steve Bantu Biko Re-iterates that Black people were unified before settlers as one (Unkown to me, new news), Settlers arrive, highlight differences, same playbook divide and conquer, take 80% majority and displace into carefully calculated 15% land mass of RSA, and further more dividing the Black Race into Tribes, 11 languages in 1 Nation. Impose fear mongering, race and tribal war and tension ensues.
I just finished a BIKO pilgrimage and to imagine that he died at 30 years old,is astonishing on how much he has achieved,by sacrificing his young life for a free South Africa..
I am sorry for apartheit cov, all who kill stive biko you are in trouble in front of God, you are going to be punished, thank you apartheid, you helped us, the land belongs to God

More and more people need knowledge and to strengthen the community. Not only have knowledge but to actually utilize it to help people as well.
What a pity that such a intelligent and equality minded person was killed
Can our politicians watch this video and pull themselves toward themselves
steve biko called it no change of wealth things stay the same
We were robbed….may his soul continues to rest in perfect peace Sir Biko.
16:38 Steve Biko unwittingly prophesized the current situation in S.A today.

R.I.P MR BANTU BIKO
Biko was ahead of his time just like Thomas Sankara
i just wonder if he can see what Africa is going through along South Africa because of selfish leadership and what he has to say.
Exactly the extract I was reading from 16 min onwards
He is heavily muted by the so called education system and the SABC the struggle continue โ๐พ

If the white man in America wants a proper example of ethics and morality. He must learn from men and women like Mr. Biko.
