Ancient Punt was never in Somalia! Not because part of Somalia is currently named "Puntland" meant the Land of the Gods (Ta-Neter) was located there. For instance, the Ghana Empire was located in the area of present-day Mauritania and Mali before the modern day country of Ghana. Also, the name Ethiopia in the Bible referred to present day Sudan before the country of Abyssinia took on that very name. To locate the land of Punt we need to go way back in time to the prehistoric Zingh Empire (Maa confederation). At that period the Zingh Empire was in full bloom in the Western Sahara in what is today Mauritania. One of Africa's earliest civilization lived in what was a lake filled, wet and fertile Sahara, where ships criss-crossed from place to place. Mauritania were the first to use the red, black and green African flag and to plant it throughout their territory all over Africa and the world.
