THE COLLISION IN LIBERIA OF MARCUS GARVEY’S AND W.E.B DU BOIS’S VERSION OF PAN AFRICANISMS AND HOW COLORISM DESTROYED THE DREAM
I'm creating a system where people will not realize they are helping each other. The host in this video has explain the huge mistake of them not coming together for the same cause. Another mistake which is true today Black people dont have an economy floor. I wish black people had the opportunity to own banks. That was against the Jim Crowe laws. I will create this internet based.
Brother, this is the divide and conquer/ divide and rule strategy. The establishment is very intelligent and will feed whatever they find to destroy antagonist leadership. We've seen it in the past and we'll see it today. If they cannot destroy a mind, soul, reputation, they will destroy the body. They will kill you. The legacy of many 60's civil rights entities is fragmented and we're still looking for strong leaders today.
I disagree about the KKK comment.
This is the part of the story I've always been missing when trying to understand the riff between these to great minds. Didn't know Dubois helped the government bring down Garvey… that's freaking crazy! Everything up to that i could understand not necessary agree with but understand Dubois's rational.
In summary: Homie turned states and snitch on the god…smh
Dubois was a bitch
This poem essentially highlights Garvey’s ideology in contrast to Dubois’
If We Must Die
BY CLAUDE MCKAY
If we must die, let it not be like hogs
Hunted and penned in an inglorious spot,
While round us bark the mad and hungry dogs,
Making their mock at our accursèd lot.
If we must die, O let us nobly die,
So that our precious blood may not be shed
In vain; then even the monsters we defy
Shall be constrained to honor us though dead!
O kinsmen! we must meet the common foe!
Though far outnumbered let us show us brave,
And for their thousand blows deal one death-blow!
What though before us lies the open grave?
Like men we’ll face the murderous, cowardly pack,
Pressed to the wall, dying, but fighting back….
What leader didn't meet with their enemies? Martin Luther King jr. Did, Malcolm X did, the Honorable Elijah Muhammad did, Honorable Louis Farrakhan did, the black Panthers did, the list goes on and on. They are videos all over YouTube of black people and leaders having a conversation with the enemy. I hate when black be so one sided. That's the reasons why we still in this situation as of today. To take it even further Jay Z did it too as well as Meek Mills, kanye west, snoop dogg.
Gavey was never friends with the KKK he state that when every they kill one of us across the Mason Dixon line boldly we should kill one of theirs so ,stop twisting history for likes and views on your podcasts.
Perhaps De Bois realized that in his time we were no longer African, but black Americans. I could not live in my Grandparent place and time. Perhaps he saw that. We are the only people who choose to refer to our selves by the name of a continent we’ve never lived in or been to… before the one our family’s have literally have built, regardless of how.
thank you for making these videos, they're very interesting and informative 🙂
does he suppose to insult him base on his color and his looks. Light people always come at dark people with their color, but claim they are black, thats hypocrisy and sad.
Tell the truth my bro
Garvey was waring with members of his own organization so how could he work with anyone else? Not regular disagreements but full fist fights in the streets. This is totally like the modern concious movement.
Garvey meeting with the Klan to come to an agreement of nonviolence
Marcus Garvey only met with a kkk leader to interview and gain an understanding of the ideology of the kkk… and to inform black people of their beliefs
Meeting with your enemy is not treason, it's necessary
very informative!
These videos have been the best breakdown of du Bois v Garvey. Great info and analysis comparing it to our current situation.
Excellent analysis.
Thanks for taking the time out to make this video.
This time I waited before I commented and its a good thing I did because you said exactly what I was going to type about " why would Garvey meet with the clan.
Excellent, you dropped a lot of info I wasn't aware of.
People tends forget the ones that wrote letter to Justice Department on Garvey were Robert Abbott, Chandler Owen, Cyril Bridges and others..Another thing the editorial boards of UNIA, NAACP, ABB and A. Phillip Ranadolph group were infiltrated by spies working for government. There American Blacks vs Blacks from Islands attacking each other through their editorials at that time.
The "Garvey Must Go" campaign was a legitimate demand. Garvey and his zealous followers represented at real menace and physical danger to those Black leaders/activists who opposed Garvey. Zealous Garveyites physically assaulted Black critics of Garvey, from coast to coast. Garvey changed political direction in 1921, becoming a blatant accommodationist to white supremacists. He opposed all efforts to gain civil right/human rights for African Americans in the U.S. as seeking "social equality," which he equated with wanting to integrate with and marry white people. Garvey's meeting with the KKK in Atlanta in 1922 was a low point in Garvey's relationship with African Americans inside the UNIA as well as outside. Rev. James W.H. Eason, elected "Leader of American Negroes" at the historic UNIA 1920 convention, charged Garvey with being a traitor to African Americans in 1922 – two years before Du Bois wrote "Lunatic or a Traitor. Garvey expelled Eason from the UNIA for 99 years. Eason, started his organization, The Universal Negro Alliance, an independent Black political organization. He was assassinated by UNIA thugs in New Orleans on January 1, 1923. Eason was due to testify against Garvey when he returned to New York. Garvey paid the assassins legal fees. It was at that point that the "Garvey Must Go" campaign emerged as a desperate plea to the U.S. Government to remove Garvey from this country.
Thank you I'll go back and review them

this is so true brother
great video! Do a video explaining the vast difference between the KKK and the Black Panthers and how the KKK is a terrorist organization and the Black Panthers were just responding to the injustices on blacks in society
Great video
You should do a video comparing and contrasting the views of Frederick Douglass and Martin Delany.
