In 1965, President Lyndon Johnson was deeply concerned about the prevalence of single motherhood in the black community. To get to the bottom of the issue, he hired Daniel Patrick Moynihan to write a report that would analyze this destructive trend so that the government could do something about it. Here’s the kicker, at the time 25% of black children were born out of wedlock. Today, that number is 70%.
