When the Europeans split the continent amongst themselves in 1884, they really caused damage. There are 55 countries mainly containing the same peoples. Congo is very rich in minerals and that is why different world powers are funding different groups in order to control/loot those resources. 60% of the world’s coltan come from Congo. This mineral is heavily used by tesla, apple, Microsoft etc and is estimated by some experts to be amongst the most in-demand mineral in the coming years. If the Europeans hadn’t caused all these unnecessary borders & divisions in Africa, these countries would have been more stable right now. But they have to keep pushing until they get it together. Don’t forget some European countries only left Africa in the 90’s, so many of these countries are still very new.

I believe Rwanda is within its right to interfere in the Congo especially given that the Congo harbours former genocidaires and Hutu extremist group the FDLR. Also the current conflict with the M23 was caused by the arrogance of the current Congolese president. The fact that the Congolese government relies on the UN and mercenaries to man its army is a testament to its incompetence. This is in contrast to Rwanda which is a well oiled machine. The Congo is asking to be invaded and played with.
The M23 came about due to the attacks on the Tutsi population in the Congo the bbc should cover this.
