Minister Wagner, please stop misleading the international community about the issues in your country, the Democratic Republic of the Congo (DRC). First, you should mention that the DRC's government has discriminated against and incited killings of Kinyarwanda-speaking Congolese for the past 30 years. Second, address the fact that the DRC's army, FARDC, has continued to collaborate with the FDLR militia, which committed atrocities during the 1994 Genocide Against the Tutsis in Rwanda. Why are you not acknowledging that the DRC government has been attempting to overthrow Rwanda's regime? Why have you not mentioned your government’s recent plan, which you poorly executed, to build a coalition of militias in the DRC, including Wazalendo, FARDC, Burundi Forces, and SADC Forces, for the purpose of fighting Rwanda?
In short, what is happening in the DRC is a matter of longstanding internal issues where the M23 rebels are fighting for their rights as citizens. This raises questions about why the DRC government is misleading the international community instead of focusing on meaningful dialogue with their Congolese citizens – the M23.
Let’s assume the UK imposes sanctions on Rwanda and partnerships with European clubs you mentioned are halted. What will happen to the displaced Congolese Tutsis who are being killed, burned, and eaten in broad daylight while the DRC government looks on? The DRC government should move towards dialogue as it is the best way to resolve the conflict in Easter DRC. The more you focus on external issues, the more you lose sight of what could bring peace at home. The long-term solution to the conflict in the DRC will be achieved by Congolese themselves, NOT USA, NOT UK, NOT FRANCE, NOT BBC, NOT SKY NEWS, NOT THE PRESIDENT OF RWANDA, NOT RWANDA.
