Leaders from across Africa are gathering in Ethiopia’s capital Addis Ababa to discuss various regional issues at the African Union Summit. But before the summit could make a headway, it has already been hit by a controversy. The row is over a map displayed by Ethiopia at the gathering. During an African Union executive council session, which was taking place at the headquarters in Addis Ababa, Ethiopia displayed a large poster of the map of the continent. It intended to feature each country’s flag over its respective map. Included parts of Somalia, Djibouti and Eritrea within its borders. It also attributed significant portions of Morocco to Algeria, triggering a controversy. Watch this report for more details.

Africa needs to change into the unites states of africa, work together have 1 president and make the other 53 countries now turn them into individual states with governors in each 53 counties Let the president run for 4 yrs let the people vote on that . And your country will be sef effect rely on your own resources and charge other countries higer prices for you resources. help one another country will grow stronger. Use the wealth from.each states resources to help finance the individual states in United africa. I'm not in to politics I understand the power of unity at all cost specially when u are poor. don't get emotional see the bigger picture. Sudan must find a way to unit back. Tell me here when Somali territory ( including Djibouti ) was part of Abyssinia Kingdom?????? As matter of fact the Abyssinia troops reached the Harar Region ( was at that time part of Somali Kingdom ADAL ) in the end of 14th Century… Not as Ethiopia falsely claiming everywhere they go that Somali territory was a part of Abyssinia from 350 AD untill the 7th Century.
Somali peninsula at once become Muslims even before Islam reached Mecca. This – i mean by being Muslim gave Somali a privilege to be apart / join of different Islamic Empire such as Ummayyad, Abbasid and finally Ottoman. As you see Somali people kept their freedom & sovereignty over their people & territory but in the same time the Somali maintain regional trades ties with the Muslim world.
Back in the day Somalia was a vital connection in the Horn of Africa's trade network connecting the region to the rest of the ancient world including: Ancient Egyptians, Phoenicians, Maycenaens, Babylonians and Romans. Somali sailors & merchants were the principal suppliers of goods such as Frankincense, Myrrh and Spices. Also, Somali competed with Sabaens, Parthians & Axumites for lucrative Indo- Greco – Roman trade. End of the story!!!
