Williams achieved success on Broadway but came back home to Memphis to pour her heart into the city’s arts community.
Williams’ cause of death was unknown.
Below is Wilson’s full statement on William’s legacy:
“Our hearts are heavy as we remember our dear friend, Larjuanette Williams, Executive Director of the Memphis Black Arts Alliance. The Shell was fortunate for her partnership, and to witness her passion for cultivating emerging, local artists. She was a success story for Memphis on Broadway, but chose to come back to her beloved city to pour her heart into our collective arts community. While there will be a vast hole in our work without her, I find comfort in the legacy she left behind for generations to come. She will always be a partner of the Overton Park Shell.”
