BISMARCK, N.D. (KFYR) – Bismarck’s planning department receives grant money each year from the U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development to benefit community members in need.
This year, the Community Development Block Grant program (CDBG) was allocated nearly $400,000 to support community initiatives that primarily benefit low- and moderate-income people through rehab and property improvement projects.
“The funds can be used to assist with infrastructure as well. So, a lot of the agencies that we assist still target those types of individuals— low-to-moderate, or a presumed benefit such as elderly, homeless, unaccompanied youth,” said CDBG Program Administrator Hilary Balzum.
This year’s recipients were Aid, Inc., Burleigh County Council on Aging, Bismarck Public Schools, Ministry on the Margins and UspireND.
