JACKSON, Miss. (WLBT) – A man who was wanted for the killings of two women earlier this month has been found dead.
On July 6, two women, 34-year-old Telissa Holder and 32-year-old Racquel Freeman, were found dead on Wilmington Street.
They had both been shot.
According to Capitol Police, on Tuesday, the U.S. Marshals Task Force, with assistance from officers with the Capitol Police Warrants Division, executed a felony arrest warrant at a home on Alta Vista Boulevard for the suspect in the shooting of the two women: 31-year-old Lewis Powell.
When officers entered the home, they found Powell, who was dead from what appeared to be a self-inflicted gunshot wound.
The Mississippi Bureau of Investigation will serve as the lead agency for the death investigation of Powell.
