Following these incidents, several social media accounts used by Robertson featuring anti-Semitic and threatening video posts were allegedly discovered.
ATLANTA — The United States Department of Justice (DOJ) said that a Fairburn man is facing federal charges after posting multiple Facebook videos of himself making threats to kill Jewish and Black people.
According to DOJ officials, 42-year-old Christopher Robertson was observed wandering around the parking lot inside the secure area of the Jewish Federation of Greater Atlanta on July 30. It was later determined that he drove in the area without permission.
DOJ officials said Robertson told the security staff that he was “the official spokesperson for the white race” and said he wanted to speak with a high-ranking Jewish official. He was then asked to leave.
Robertson, who calls himself James Lomak, then drove to The Temple, a Jewish synagogue, in the same area and made derogatory remarks about Jewish people and ranted about the decline of the white race.
Following these incidents, the DOJ said several social media accounts used by Robertson featuring anti-Semitic and threatening video posts were discovered. A YouTube post showed him singing “…if you Jewish, one shot, two shot, leave you in the sewage.” A Facebook post showed him holding a black pistol loaded with a magazine while speaking about the “cultural genocide” of the white race. A caption on the video read, “I will not tolerate cultural genocide, get that understood — I will fight for it, I will die for it, I will kill for it.”
As law enforcement began investigating, additional officers were added for about 80 Jewish facilities in and around Atlanta.
On July 31, DOJ officials said Robertson posted on Facebook that he wanted to “chop it up with a rabbi.” He then entered a Jewish Chabad building in Peachtree City, Georgia, and identified himself as the “official delegate of the white race.” He then told the rabbi that Jewish people were on the “verge of extermination,” according to the DOJ. Police arrived, and Robertson left the building.
On Aug. 1, the DOJ said he posted a Facebook video threatening to kill Black people who “lash out openly at the white man.” Later that evening, a federal court issued a warrant to arrest Robertson for communicating interstate threats. Robertson was then taken into custody following a lengthy standoff with the FBI.
He appeared in court on Monday, Aug. 4. A magistrate judge ordered for him to remain in custody until his next hearing on Aug. 7 at 9:30 a.m.
The Jewish Federation is inviting the community to a security training on Sunday, August 24, from 10:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. The training will include High Holiday preparedness and will cover situational awareness, how to respond during an active assailant situation and more.
