See how a bear stole the show at a honey-themed bachelorette party
A black bear invited itself to a honey-themed bachelorette party in Gatlinburg, Tennessee, and nibbled on some steak.
The bear can breathe again.
After at least 12 days with a plastic jug stuck on its head, the black bear seen wandering around Bayfield County was freed the afternoon of Aug. 3 in Crystal Lake near Cable, the Wisconsin Department of Natural Resources said.
Wildlife professionals with U.S. Department of Agriculture Wildlife Services staff tranquilized the bear and cut off the jug before relocating it to the woods, where the DNR said it will have “ample food and water this time of year.”
“Thank you everyone that did not give up on this girl!” Jayme Morey of the Chequamegon Humane Association, which first reported on the bear’s predicament last week, posted on Facebook after the rescue.
“She’s alive, awake and in better shape than she should be considering it’s been at least 12 days with the bucket on her head. She is on her way to be rereleased in a safe spot. This would not have happened without a community’s help!”
The DNR said public reports of the bear were critical in the success of the effort.
