First Black Dougherty County superintendent passes away


DOUGHERTY COUNTY, Ga. (WALB) – Former Dougherty County Superintendent Dr. John Culbreath has passed away.

Culbreath passed away at 77 years of age from natural causes just after 5 p.m. on Tuesday, Aug. 5, according to Dougherty County Coroner Michael Fowler.

Culbreath was the first Black superintendent for Dougherty County Schools.
