The Las Vegas Raiders traded cornerback Jakorian Bennett to the Philadelphia Eagles for defensive tackle Thomas Booker this week.
Let’s take a look at Bennett’s time with the Raiders and why it ended so quickly:
How the Raiders acquired him:
Las Vegas drafted Bennett is the fourth round in the 2023 draft out of Maryland.
Bennett played 24 games in two seasons. He had 11 starts and no interceptions with Las Vegas. Bennett was a starter for seven of the 10 games he was healthy for in 2024. His season ended with a shoulder injury in November. Bennett had his moments as a rookie, but was inconsistent. He played pretty well in 2024 and had eight passes defenses in just 10 games.
Bennett doesn’t fit the profile of a long cornerback that new Las Vegas coach Pete Carroll craves. He was working with the third team often in the early stages of training camp. So, the new staff didn’t see him as a fit and felt it was a good idea to get Booker to help a thin group at defensive tackle.
The Eagles have some nice players at cornerback, but Bennett, who turns 25 this month, should be in the playing rotation for the world champion Eagles.
