KANSAS CITY, Mo. (KCTV) – Kansas City hosted a celebration of Black deaf history this week.
The National Black Deaf Advocates held a conference Saturday at the Marriott Downtown, hoping to expand awareness and accessibility for their community.
Organizers said that it is all to make sure their history makes it to the next generation.
“To be able to collect that rich legacy and share that with other black, deaf people who came before us,” Kansas City native Sheryl Emery said. “We have a responsibility to pass that and share that on to future generations.“
The conference ran from Wednesday through Saturday.
