Health advocates use film to promote breastfeeding awareness among Black families

SAVANNAH, Ga. (WTOC) -According to the 2022 CDC Breastfeeding Report Card, less Black infants were introduced to Breastfeeding compared to babies of other races.

Healthy Savannah is making it their mission to raise awareness of that statistic and normalize breastfeeding in the Black community.

Healthy Savannah is presenting a special screening of the documentary “Chocolate Milk” on Sunday. A discussion about it’s powerful message will follow the screening. Breastfeeding Program Manager Dr. Elsie Smalls joined Morning Break to discuss the opportunity.

Dr. Smalls encourages expecting moms, new moms and their support systems to join them for the screening on Aug. 24 from 3 p.m. to 5:30 p.m. at the Georgia Southern Armstrong Campus Union Ballroom.
