SWANNANOA, N.C. (WLOS) — After an extensive recovery following Helene, “Kampgrounds of America Incorporated” is welcoming campers back to the Asheville East KOA Holiday.
The Black Mountain-Swannanoa Chamber of Commerce will hold a ribbon-cutting and community celebration at the campground.

Until 2 p.m. on Wednesday, Oct. 1, the public can tour the restored campground, have refreshments, and take part in activities and entertainment.
The Asheville East KOA Holiday says nearly every structure on site was lost during Helene, including the main administration building and bathhouse.

There was also severe erosion and sediment buildup in two of the property’s ponds.
Debris was scattered throughout the property.
