The Aledo Ladycats began the fall golf season with a fourth-place finish in the Harbor Lakes Invitational, played at Harbor Lakes Golf Course in Granbury and hosted by the Granbury Lady Pirates.

The Ladycats Black posted a team score of 655. Trophy Club Nelson won with a 645, followed by Amarillo with a 647 and Flower Mound Marcus with a 648.

The four lowest individual scores on each team make up the team score.

Ladycat senior Emily Crick finished third individually with an even-par 144 over two days. She shot 73 the first day and finished with a 1-under-par 71.

Also for the Ladycats Black, sophomore Sydney Purdon was 15th individually with a 163, senior Harper Price shot 171, senior Addison Russ posted a 177 and sophomore Sydney Russell came in with a 244.

“I thought they played well, especially Emily. I’m happy to see her start the year off well,” Aledo coach Brian Mourning said. “Four of the top five teams in our region were there, with Amarillo being one of the best. They’ve won the region the last two years and they have everyone back. To be within eight strokes of them this early makes me feel pretty good going forward.”

Junior Kylie Kirkland, who usually plays on the Black team, participated with the Orange team this time. She shot 90 on the first day, but missed the second because she was in a band competition.

The Aledo Orange shot 806 for 17th place. They were led by freshman Kenzie Todey with a 188, followed by sophomore Macy Martinak, 210; freshman Emma Rangels, 215; and freshman Morgan Gaha, 216.

The Ladycats Orange was playing in the Glen Rose Invitational at press time. The Black team will return to Granbury Oct. 17-18 for the Granbury Invitational at DeCordova Bend Country Club and Harbor Lakes – as will the Bearcats Black team.

All Aledo teams will participate in the Golf Fundraiser Oct. 19 at Squaw Creek in Willow Park.
