Thomas B. Black
OBITUARY
Thomas B. Black, 79, of Macungie, passed away on September 25, 2025. He was the loving husband of Carol A. (Haasis) Black to whom he was married 57 years last September 14th. Born in Roxborough, Philadelphia, on June 28, 1946, Thomas was the eldest son of the late Matthew T. and Marie E. (Kling) Black. He retired in 2006 after 40 years in the bank industry. During his last fifteen years, he worked as a Regional President for both Mellon and Citizens Banks. Tom was a graduate of Roxborough High School, a 1967 graduate of the Philadelphia Community College, and a 1969 graduate of Pennsylvania State University. He also graduated from the Pennsylvania School of Banking, and the American Bankers Association Stonier Graduate School of Banking. In his high school yearbook, he noted that his only ambition was “to lead a full life”. With a much loved wife, family and successful career, his life was full and overflowing with accomplishment and love. Tom was a member of St. Joseph the Worker Roman Catholic Church, Orefield.
Survivors: In addition to his wife, Carol; daughters, Christine M. Sylvester of Langhorne, Karen E. Black (Nick) of Phoenix, AZ, Carolyn Black of Plains; grandchildren, Emily Mae Sylvester, Evan Thomas Sylvester, Avery Elizabeth Black; siblings, William A. Black of Naples, FL (whom has since passed, the following day after Thomas on September 26, 2025), Michael K. Black (Gerry) of Mechanicsburg, Linda J. Lukens (John) of Plymouth Meeting.
