RAPID CITY, S.D. (KOTA) – The Black Hills Bike Hub had its Youth Day on the west side of Rapid City in Raider Park.
This is the second year for Bike Hub: Youth Day.
The event is designed to encourage kids to get out on bikes and try something new on a relatively new trail.
It is not a competition; this event is more for the kids to come together and have fun.
“Since we’re kind of focusing on the younger kids, there’s no competition or anything,” said Evan Walterman, Trails Director of Black Hills Bike Hub. “So, there is no places or anything, it’s just out here having fun. The kids just get a medal and a t-shirt for riding some of the trails out here in Raider Park.”
Black Hills Bike Hub’s motto is “All bikes, all rides, all people,” and their goal is to represent anyone and any form of cycling in Rapid City.
“We really want to try to help make it more of a biking-friendly community here, so we do things like trail development, we’re actually working with Rock Solid next week to do master planning for the area,” Walterman explained.
Black Hills Bike Hub will host a community input session for trail improvements on Tuesday, October 21, at Dakota Point Brewing.
