The NYS Black Legislative Task Force (NYSBLT) is offering $30 million in grant funding to support community organizations across New York State.
Founded in 2022, the NYSBLT is composed of Black elected officials serving in the New York State Assembly. The task force focuses on advancing legislation, promoting economic security and social justice, and providing financial resources to support Black communities statewide.
“This funding is designed to support initiatives targeting healthcare access, educational opportunities, mental health and wellness, and other critical areas to uplift residents in need and empower future generations,” Sen. Samra Brouk said in a statement.
Funding will be distributed to five nonprofit organizations, which will then use the money to support community-based groups. Program areas eligible for support include:
- Housing
- Economic Development
- Arts & Culture
- Criminal Justice Reform
- Civic Engagement
- Health
- Education
- Nonprofit Capacity Building
Nonprofit organizations applying for this round must offer services in at least one of these program areas. Applications are due Monday, Nov. 17, at 5 p.m.
A separate application process will open later for organizations focused on housing and economic development. Details will be announced at a later date.
