Man convicted of reckless homicide in Black Creek drug overdose case


APPLETON (WLUK) – Cole Simon, one of the suspects in a fatal drug overdose in Black Creek, was convicted Friday.

Simon pleaded no contest to first-degree reckless homicide. Sentencing is scheduled for Jan. 22, court records show.

The case relates to the July 19, 2024, death of a man found dead in the 100 block of East State Street. A 27-year-old man had been found dead by family members.

Previously sentenced in the case was Travis Neshek. Neshek supplied the drugs to Simon, who provided them to the victim, authorities said.

Neshek was sentenced to one year in jail and five years of probation for fentanyl delivery, court records show.
