This year, many people across the country are skipping out on some of the best deals to protest major retailers and the state of the economy.

In Greenville, protesters held signs on East Tenth Street to make their voices heard.

This Black Friday, several Greenville residents lined the streets instead of the shopping centers.

“I’m here for the person, for the common workers that are trying to make it in this world, and we need our leaders to care about everyone and not their rich buddies.”

Susan Vickery Murcer says she’s missing out on deals and discounts to protest against the Trump administration and large corporations. In hopes that this year, people will spend their dollars elsewhere.

“We all have purchases that we need to do, and I want us to look at supporting our local businesses.”

The protest was led by a non-profit and organized by Michael Tann. He says the fight is not done.

Our nationwide organization has called for a blackout from today until the end of November. If we boycott Black Friday, it will affect their bottom line and their end-of-year reports.
