Progress Center for Black Women will host its 7th annual Photos with Santa on Saturday, Dec. 6, 9 a.m.-3 p.m., at Olbrich Botanical Gardens.
The annual Photos with Santa event began in 2018 with 225 visitors and has grown every year. Last year, more than 1,500 people attended the event at the Madison Children’s Museum, making Photos with Santa the largest event of its kind in Dane County, according to a press release from the Progress Center.
“I’m always excited to see how much all the kids have grown and everyone’s happiness to take a photo with Santa,” said Sabrina Madison, founding CEO of the Progress Center for Black Women, in a press release. “I also really love how many adults attend without kids and sometimes take their first photo with a Black Santa Claus.”
This will be the first year that Photos with Santa will be held at Olbrich Gardens on Madison’s East Side.
“We are delighted to partner with the Progress Center for Black Women in hosting their 7th annual Photos with Santa event,” said Tanya Zastrow, director of the Olbrich Botanical Gardens. “This cherished community tradition is a highlight of the holiday season, and we are honored to be part of it. After getting the perfect snapshot with Santa, guests are welcome to explore the festive Holiday Express Flower and Model Train Show and the tropical warmth of the Bolz Conservatory.”
Santa will once again be brought to life by longtime community leader Anthony Cooper Sr., who will be joined by his team of helpers to welcome guests of all ages. Artist Emily Balsley returns to design a warm, festive backdrop and Megan Spicer’s family will once again provide holiday treat bags for children.
The Madison Reading Project, a staple at the event year after year, will ensure each child can take home a holiday book that reflects the beauty and diversity of our community.
The complimentary photo with Santa is free and there will also be free admission to Olbrich’s Holiday Express Model Train & Flower Show. To register, click here.
Olbrich Botanical Gardens is located at 3330 Atwood Ave.
