The orientation agenda included an opening and closing prayer, a welcome and introductions of Neweta members, contestants, parents and the BAP hostess, Sabrina Lewis.

Lewis is a two-time Miss California titleholder in the Miss USA Pageant system and serves as this year’s pageant hostess. She is a 2020 graduate of the University of California, Berkeley, a social worker and an accomplished equestrian.

Application and profile forms were collected from contestants, along with photographs.

Attendees received an overview of The Neweta Club and the Black Awareness Pageant’s history and purpose. The contents of the official pageant documents folder were shared and discussed with both contestants and their families.

A practice of the contestant processional was also held. The hostess and BAP-experienced Neweta members worked with contestants on the walk-through, which will be refined further at upcoming rehearsals. Future practices will include personal introductions and detailed bios presented by the hostess.

Contestants left the orientation with a special gift from Neweta, given in appreciation of their attendance and in the spirit of the Christmas season.
