Florida A&M University’s Harambee Festival Returns for Unity and Cultural Celebration

TALLAHASSEE, Fla. — Florida A&M University will host the 2026 Harambee Festival on Saturday, Feb. 28, from 11 a.m. to 5 p.m. at the Will Packer Amphitheater, bringing together students, alumni and the Tallahassee community for a day centered
on unity, culture and celebration.

Now in its ninth year, the Harambee Festival is one of FAMU’s signature cultural events
celebrating Black history, heritage and community connection. The word Harambee, a Swahili term meaning “all pull together,” reflects the spirit of collective responsibility
and cultural pride that anchors the annual celebration.

“The Harambee Festival plays a vital role in our relationship with the Tallahassee
community and surrounding areas by enhancing our brand through community engagement,”
said Vernon Bryant, Harambee Festival project manager. “It also allows us to showcase
our colleges and schools and highlight the programs the university has to offer.”

The festival will feature live entertainment, cultural performances, community engagement
activities and family-friendly programming designed to highlight the richness of African
and African American culture while strengthening connections across campus and the
broader Tallahassee community.

In addition to live performances, attendees can expect:

  • A diverse lineup of local vendors offering food, art, fashion and cultural goods

  • Interactive workshops and activities for all ages

  • Giveaways and opportunities to engage with community partners

  • Information booths representing FAMU’s colleges, schools and campus initiatives

Parking and Shuttle Information
Attendees may park at Bragg Stadium (West Side) for shuttle pickup beginning at 11 a.m. Shuttles will run every 30 minutes throughout the duration of the festival.
