JOPLIN, Mo. (KOAM) – The Joplin Public Library will host its annual Black History Fair on Saturday, Feb. 7, highlighting community organizations and individuals serving Joplin’s African American community.
The event will be held from 11 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. in the library’s Community Room and is open to all ages. Admission is free, and no library card is required to attend.
This year’s fair will focus on local organizations and community members doing impactful work in the African American community. Attendees will hear a series of short presentations from participating organizations and have the opportunity to visit interactive displays and informational booths hosted by the library, community members and local groups.
Participating organizations include George Washington Carver National Monument, EastTown Dreams District, the Joplin NAACP, the Minnie Hackney Community Center and others.
Organizers say the event is designed to encourage community connection while highlighting Black history, culture and ongoing contributions in Joplin and the surrounding area.
“The Library is happy to host this annual event focused on honoring the past, celebrating the present, and inspiring the future,” said Library Director Jeana Gockley.
The Black History Fair is open to the public, and all ages are welcome.
