ROME, N.Y. — The community is invited to gather for a special celebration of Black History Month at the Rome Free Academy Auditorium.
According to the Rome City School District, the event will take place at 6:30 p.m. on Feb. 10 and is free and open to the public.
The celebration will focus on the theme “A Century of Black History Commemorations” and highlight the importance of overcoming challenges together.
Attendees can expect music, performances, storytelling, art and poetry from Rome City School District students, staff, community partners and special guests.
A small reception will be held in the RFA lobby after the event.
If needed, a weather make-up date is set for Feb. 11 at 6:30 p.m. at the same location.
The Rome African American Heritage Association (AAHA) and the Rome NAACP sponsored the event at the school.
