The City of Temple invites the community to celebrate Black history, leadership and cultural impact at its annual ceremony on Feb. 18.
TEMPLE, Texas — The City of Temple announced Wednesday that its fifth annual Black History Month ceremony, recognizing the community impact of Black Americans in Temple, will take place Feb. 18 at 10 a.m. at the Frank W. Mayborn Civic & Convention Center.
Officials said the ceremony aligns with the national Black History Month theme, “A Century of Black History Commemorations,” marking 100 years of celebrating Black history, achievements and progress.
The event will feature reflections on the evolution of Black History Month and its significance today, along with speeches from local leaders and community voices, according to the announcement.
“Attendees will hear from individuals who continue to shape Temple through leadership, service and advocacy, reinforcing the city’s commitment to inclusivity, recognition and shared history,” the city said.
The ceremony is designed to honor the current achievements and cultural contributions of Black residents in Central Texas, while also reflecting on the past. Organizers stated the event is free and open to the public and no RSVP is required.
