CHARLESTON, S.C. (WCIV) — Charleston Black Expo returns next week with a twoday celebration of culture, food and community empowerment across the Lowcountry.
The weekend opens Friday, March 13, with the Taste of Black Charleston, featuring dishes from local chefs, food vendors and entertainment rooted in Black culinary traditions.
The main expo follows Saturday, March 14, at the Charleston Area Convention Center, where guests can attend seminars, explore a marketplace of Blackowned businesses and enjoy live performances. South Carolina women’s basketball coach Dawn Staley is scheduled to appear.
“We encourage everyone to come out and be a part of it,” said Darrin Thomas, president of South Carolina Black Expo. “If you love good music, great food — come out. There’s a kid zone and so many facets to the expo. It is truly a familyoriented event.”
