Huntsville hosts Black Family Wellness Expo to promote health and community resources

Families in Huntsville will have a chance to get free health screenings and resources when the Huntsville Chapter of The Links, Incorporated hosts its Black Family Wellness Expo on March 28. The event is part of a nationwide effort to improve health outcomes for Black families.

The expo runs from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. at the AAMU Health and Wellness Center and is open to all ages. Local health providers and community groups will offer information on heart health, cancer awareness, chronic kidney disease, newborn care, blood sugar monitoring, and more.

Organizers say the goal is to provide tools and knowledge that help prevent and manage conditions affecting the Black community.

More than 30 local organizations, including the AAMU Health and Counseling Center and VANTIVE, are taking part in the event.
