BANGOR, Maine (WABI) – A Black Friday tradition in Bangor is back!
On Friday, Bangor firefighters will be hitting the streets to fill up their boots with donations to help kids and adults with neuromuscular diseases
It’s part of Bangor Professional Firefighters’ “Fill the Boot” campaign.
Every penny raised goes to the Muscular Dystrophy Association of Northern New England.
Over the years, they’ve been able to raise thousands of dollars in just a matter of hours thanks to the generosity of the community.
“The community is the biggest part of what we do, you know, we can put on events, we can be out in the streets or on the sidewalk with a boot but that doesn’t matter unless we have the community support that we do and we’re really lucky to have a community that supports what we do to a tremendous level our success is because of the community that we have,” said Jared Bowden, Bangor Professional Firefighters IAFF Local 772 MDA Committee Chair.
They’ll be in the medians and on the sidewalks at the Bangor Mall Boulevard and Hogan Road intersection from 8:30 a.m. to 11 a.m.
They will come to the car if it’s a red light.
They urge people not to stop in the road when the light is green.
You can also donate online and by attending their annual Jingle Bell Ball on December 13th.
